Unifor Local 2458 represents more than 200 workers in the three houses. The 2,458 local members working in the townships of Bruce County, Gateway Haven in Wiarton and Bruce Haven in Walkerton ratified a new collective agreement on April 11. The agreement reinforces the language of lack of work, a subject that is tormenting the healthcare sector. The agreement also includes a better planning language, benefits and a 2% salary increase per year of the three-year contract. “Congratulations to the negotiating committee, which remained committed to resisting concessions and a fair settlement,” said Jerry Dias, The country`s president. “We know that the working conditions of our caregivers directly influence the living conditions of seniors living in homes.” Stay up-to-date on what is happening at Unifor and how the union is improving the lives of all workers in Canada.
